The Coziest Smoked Sausage and Cabbage Soup

The air is crisp outside today and the temps have made a drastic drop here in middle Tennessee from the high 70’s to the 40’s. It feels like home in the PNW a bit, with the chill in the air. The feeling of fall is a call for cozy in my bones. Sweater weather, the smell of spice, soft blankets, coffeehouse tunes, a good candle burning and a pot of soup simmering on the stove - perfection. I love fall - the changing leaves, the cozy and the hygge of this season.

Laboring with love over the stove and savoring a first bowl of soup in this season feels like an old friend returning. It is comforting and joyous. It enriches the senses and warms the soul.

A favorite soup of mine has always been sausage and cabbage. My mom used to make a version of it in childhood, we served up the most delicious recipe of it in a cafe I worked at in highschool and as an adult, I’ve tried a number of different versions trying to find the best one. I found a recipe by The Blonde Cook and it is a winner for sure! I’ve adapted her recipe with a few changes to make it my own and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Cheers to fall, friends - the return of crisp air, warm soups and being cozy.
